On April 19th, Tim Clarke and I had the incredible opportunity to participate in an event to welcome a group of WWII veterans who were flown into BWI from Dayton Ohio so they could see the WWII Memorial before they pass. This program is called Honor Flight and was started by Mr. Earl Morse. This was a most incredible and emotional experience

We were contacted by the Patriot Guard Riders to elicit support for the event which entailed forming a flag line to welcome the veterans at the gate where the plane arrived. About 16 people stepped up and participated. It started out with a Police escorted ride to BWI from the Rt 195 Park and Ride. This Police Escort was arranged thanks to the connections Squid has with ABATE.

If you ever have the chance to attend one of these events - I highly recommend it.

We arrived at the airport and were escorted into a private parking lot.

Everyone had to get passes so we could get through security and proceed to the gate so we could form the flag line

Excitement was building as we were waiting for the first Veteran to Appear

The honor flight coordinator announced to the crowd waiting to board planes exactly what was happening. We waited for the Veterans to emerge. The Veterans were traveling with an NBC News Crew

Finally the first Veterans appears. The entire airport broke out in non-stop applause and cheers. It was emotional for us and the Veterans. You could tell they appreciated us being there.

The Veterans take a PIT Stop after the long flight. Many came up and talked to us. Although they are up in years - many are very mobile and in excellent shape.

Some of the guys came up and had pictures taken in front of the flag line.
